Your Mental Health Matters

Please be very cognizant of your mental health during the current crisis in our country (and world). I recognize we all laugh about introvert, extrovert, and ambivert memes. However, it is important to remember we are a social species. Regardless of our physical and mental toughness, we need each other.

Without question, Ohio has been doing an excellent job with getting out in front of the COVID-19 issues. The Ohio Stay at Home Order will take effect on March 23, 2020 (11:59 pm EST) and will last until April 6, 2020 (11:59 pm EST.)

Please consider these things while following the guidelines of the order:

  • Be responsible
  • Be logical
  • Be patient
  • Don’t panic (respect the threat)
  • Don’t overthink (use facts not speculation)
  • Don’t devalue your safety
  • Don’t devalue your neighbors safety
  • Don’t assume anything without supporting information (information changes the situation)

I personally believe Governor DeWine has demonstrated exceptional leadership from Day 1 of this situation. I fully understand and respect the people that are upset about the financial aspect. However, being in this position requires difficult decisions to help support the desired outcome – life safety. Although I usually vote Democrat, he is definitely setting an excellent example for Republicans. [Note: I am not pushing politics, folks. – People first.]

Now more than ever it is important to have an attitude for gratitude. Taking inventory of the things you’re grateful for can help shift your focus from the current situation. Here’s my list:

  1. The safety of my family
  2. The safety of my coworkers (working remotely)
  3. Having a home gym (my sanity)
  4. The internet and cable
  5. Having plenty of comic books and books to read

Your challenge: What are 3-5 things you’re grateful for?
