Information changes the situation, regardless of the topic. The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. However, you can’t cherry pick what you accept or don’t accept, just so you can support your beliefs. That’s not productive; it is conformation bias.

For example:
“I don’t support this because it counters my argument.”
“I do support this because it supports my argument.”
